CAM Transition Consultant RFP

The Detroit CoC’s Lead Agency, the Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND), is seeking an experienced consultant to help us identify a new Coordinated Entry Lead Agency. We are looking for a consultant/contractor to serve as project manager to oversee the successful transition and onboarding of a new Coordinated Entry Lead Agency. Michigan's New Domestic Violence Hotline

MDHHS highlights new hotline during October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month

“LANSING, Mich. – As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is highlighting Michigan’s new, 24/7 hotline providing live, one-on-one crisis support for all victims, survivors, support people and professionals who serve them. The hotline number is available by calling 866-864-2338 or texting 877-861-0222.

“MDHHS is joining national efforts to educate communities about the lasting trauma domestic violence has on individuals and families,” said Elizabeth Hertel, MDHHS director. “It is incredibly important to provide support services for those experiencing abuse, and we encourage anyone in need to seek assistance.”

The hotline is free and provides local support that is tailored to each unique situation through trained advocates.

Hotline services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year via phone, chat, text or TTY, for those who are deaf or hard of hearing:

Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control in a relationship. Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate and impacts all races, genders, education and economic statuses. Often, multiple forms of abuse are present. It is important to know behaviors to look for to seek support for self or others.

HAND Receives $1.25 Million Bezos Day 1 Families Fund Grant

 Homeless Action Network of Detroit Receives $1.25 Million Bezos Day 1 Families Fund Grant to Help End Homelessness for Families in Detroit

Day 1 Families Fund grants $96.2 million to 32 nonprofits across the country to provide shelter for children and families in need

DETROIT – (November 17, 2021): Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND), a hub for homelessness data, resources and change in the Detroit metropolitan area, today announced that it has been selected to receive a $1.25 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund—the largest private donation in HAND’s history. Launched in 2018 by Amazon founder and executive chair Jeff Bezos, the Day 1 Families Fund issues annual leadership awards to organizations and civic groups doing compassionate, needle-moving work to provide shelter and hunger support to address the immediate needs of young families.

 “We are very excited about this grant from the Day 1 Families Fund. As the largest private donation that HAND has ever received, we feel the impact in Detroit will be transformative,” said Tasha Gray, HAND’s Executive Director. “This grant puts our community at the intersection of investment and innovation. Combined with the current federal investments in families such as child tax credits, we have real opportunities for families to exit homelessness.”
