Third Economic Impact Payments for Americans Experiencing Homelessness

Americans who don’t have a permanent address or a bank account may qualify for up to $1,400 – the third Economic Impact Payment. They may also get $1,400 for a qualified spouse and for each qualified dependent. While payments continue to be made automatically to most people, the IRS still needs information from some people.

Recently, the CDC issued new mask guidance. Those who are fully vaccinated, in most situations, no longer have to wear face masks indoors or outdoors. However, those partially vaccinated, unvaccinated, or immunocompromised, must still wear masks. To find out more about these changes, click this link.

FEMA COVID-19 Funeral Assistance

If you paid for funeral expenses after January 20, 2020, for an individual whose death may have been caused or likely the result of COVID-19 you can apply for up to $9,000 for funeral assistance.

Start the application process by calling FEMA's COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Line at 844-684-6333; TTY 800-462-7585, Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 9 PM ET. No online applications accepted. Multilingual services available.

If you haven't received a stimulus payment, you may be eligible for a Recovery Rebate Credit . To claim the rebate, you must file a 2020 tax return. Details are available here.

Funding Opportunity: New Continuum of Care Programming for FY2021

The Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND) will be holding an informational webinar on Wednesday, May 19, at 9:30 am for agencies interested in applying for new Continuum of Care (CoC) project funding. Agencies interested in applying for new Continuum of Care (CoC) funding are strongly encouraged to attend this webinar. A recording of this webinar, along with additional application materials will be posted here.

The CoC will be considering applications for new project funding for the following types of projects: Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), Rapid Rehousing (RRH), and Coordinated Entry Supportive Services Only (CE-SSO).

The CoC will also consider applications for new RRH projects specifically targeted to persons fleeing Domestic Violence/Human Trafficking.
