The Detroit Continuum of Care (CoC), the Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND), and the City of Detroit conducted a one-night Point-in-Time count of persons experiencing homelessness in the cities of Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park on January 31, 2024.
The Point-in-Time count (PIT) provides a snapshot of the number of people who were experiencing homelessness in our community on this one night. This includes people experiencing homelessness who are Unsheltered and persons in Emergency Shelter, Safe Havens and Transitional Housing programs. The Unsheltered Count is mandated by HUD to be conducted biennially.
